Parolee with sawed-off shotgun arrested at Fairfield park
Fairfield police said they took a sawed-off shotgun from a parolee at a park on Tuesday.
Police said that at about 8 a.m. Tuesday, an officer saw a man walk from a park in the 1400 block of Utah Street and attempt to hide behind a vehicle. Officers contacted him and a short struggle began as they tried to detain him.
During a search, officers found that the man, later identified as Michael Heath, 26, of Vallejo had a concealed sawed-off shotgun in his possession. A photo of the weapon shows a sawed-off stock and barrel – and what appears to be worn tape wrapped around the barrel.
Heath, who was out of prison on post-release community supervision, was booked on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a short-barreled shotgun, possession of a concealed firearm and resisting arrest, according to police.
