Five former Del Oro High School students are accused of burglarizing the gym at their alma mater.
Five 18-year-old men have been arrested on suspicion of felony burglary and felony conspiracy in connection with the Aug. 4 break-in. The Placer County Sheriff’s Office identified them as Cody Sterns, Jose Munoz, Cole Pietak, Eddie Owens and Ian Walsh.
The group allegedly went to the Loomis campus about 2 a.m. and entered the Bonner Gym. They allegedly entered the boys locker room, went through lockers and stole sports equipment and personal items. A historic trophy belonging to the school also was removed from a case and stolen, according to a Sheriff’s Office Facebook post.

Detectives, working with school staff members and a deputy who serves as a school resource officer, were able to identify some of the suspects from surveillance video. The five teens were booked into Placer County Jail in Auburn.
Detectives recovered the stolen property and are returning the items to the schools and students.
