El Dorado County Sheriff’s deputies found the body of a woman Friday on a large rural property in the community of Latrobe and arrested her husband on suspicion of murder.
At 12:24 p.m., an unidentified caller asked the Sheriff’s Office to perform a welfare check on Deborah Roth, 50, who lived with her husband in a trailer on the property. The caller talked to Deborah Roth almost every day and was concerned she was unreachable, a Sheriff’s Office news release said.
Deputies went to the property in the 8000 block of South Shingle Road and talked with Deborah Roth’s husband, Roy Roth, who said he and his wife had argued and she’d left. Detectives were called in. They searched the mobile home and property and found the body of a woman, “presumably the remains of Deborah Roth,” the news release said.
Roy Roth, 51, was booked into the El Dorado County Jail at 3:30 a.m. Saturday on suspicion of murder with an enhancement for having a prior felony conviction. He is being held without bail.
