A 79-year-old man who had left an Arden-Arcade care facility on foot early Saturday was found late Sunday morning at the mall.

Hugh Parker, 79, had been missing for more than a day when he was found at the Arden Fair Mall, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department.

Parker, who suffers from dementia and a severe heart condition, is believed to have left a care facility in the 3600 block of Morse Avenue just a day after he was moved there from a facility in Auburn. The mall is about four miles away from his new home.

Officials believe Parker left the facility early Saturday without any money or a cell phone, but with all of his belongings, which were held in two white plastic bags bearing the words “Westview Health Care Center,” where he previously had resided.
