A Sacramento man was arrested for suspicion of drunken driving after he crashed his motorcycle on Highway 99 Monday night and his passenger was run over by several vehicles, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officer Michael Bradley said that at 9:15 p.m. Monday motorcyclist Christopher Liby, 32, was riding northbound on Highway 99 approaching 47th Avenue when for unknown reasons his motorcycle went down.
Liby and a passenger on the motorcycle, a 21-year-old woman, were thrown to the roadway. The passenger was then struck numerous times by passing traffic.
She died at the scene. Her name was not released, pending notification of family.

Witnesses told CHP officers that Liby was traveling at a high rate of speed when he crashed. He was transported to the hospital with moderate injury.
