Carmichael dad accused of attempting to kill sons appears in court
Charles Ewers, the Carmichael father accused of trying to kill his two sons with car exhaust in his home's locked garage, made his first appearance Thursday morning in Sacramento Superior Court. Attorneys citing newly obtained discovery asked to move his arraignment to April 24.
Ewers appeared for the brief hearing in his bare feet and restraints, clad in a heavy green safety suit. Ewers, Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies said, tried to take his own life in the same vehicle where his boys, 8 and 10, were found severely beaten and semi-conscious on Saturday.
