Two brothers, ages 19 and 33, were arrested Tuesday evening after they allegedly snatched a purse from an older woman in a grocery store parking lot in Roseville.

The incident was reported just before 6 p.m. in the Raley’s parking lot at Woodcreek and Pleasant Grove boulevards. The woman was unloading her groceries when a man grabbed her purse from the shopping cart, then fled in a waiting jeep, according to a Police Department news release.

An off-duty Placer County sheriff’s deputy, who happened to be in the parking lot at the time, heard the woman yelling and saw the suspects leaving the parking lot. He called 911 and followed the vehicle at a safe distance, updating dispatchers with the location.

Thanks to the off-duty deputy and a California Highway Patrol helicopter crew that spotted the vehicle from the air, Roseville police officers were able to stop the suspect’s Jeep on Douglas Boulevard near Keehner Avenue, the news release said.

Arrested were Michael Donskikh, 19, and his brother Sergey Donskikh, 33, both of Antelope. They were booked into South Placer jail on suspicion of grand theft from a person, conspiracy and elder abuse.
