A Wheatland resident has been arrested on suspicion of homicide after Yuba County sheriff’s deputies found a man dead in a Linda residence Friday.
Deputies responded Friday afternoon to a request for a welfare check in the 5800 block of Lindhurst Avenue after a family member reported hearing a gunshot in the area of the victim’s residence at 2:43 p.m. Deputies found a man with an apparent gunshot wound dead inside the home, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release. The Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday identified him 45-year-old Russell Wayne Ross II of Linda.
The official cause of death is pending an autopsy, the news release said.
Following an investigation, detectives arrested 53-year-old Randall Todd Harris of Wheatland on suspicion of homicide, being a felon in possession of a firearm and illegal possession of ammunition. He was booked into Yuba County jail with bail set at $1 million.
No information was provided on the motive for the shooting and the investigation is continuing, according to the news release.
