Sexual abuse suspect thought to be headed to Sacramento

A suspect in a Pacific Northwest sexual abuse investigation may be traveling toward Sacramento, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office in Oregon.

Zachary Petersen, 23, is thought to be heading to Sacramento or Seaside, Ore., with a 15-year-old girl who ran away from her home Monday night. Petersen left the same night after calling a crisis hotline from his home in Pasco, Wash., four hours away from where the girl lives in Oregon. He is believed to be suicidal and possibly carrying a firearm.

The Benton County Sheriff’s Office in Washington state is investigating Petersen on suspicion of sexual abuse pertaining to the girl. He was last seen near Portland.

Petersen is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds with with brown eyes and a brown buzz cut. His passenger is 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds with brown eyes and brown shoulder-length hair. Petersen is known to drive a white 1998 Ford F-250 extended cab truck, Washington license plate number C20874C, according to authorities.
