The suspects allegedly stole a victim’s account information, created checks under his name and cashed them at local stores. Four checks were cashed at Trader Joe’s in Folsom, Sacramento, Davis and Brentwood, two were cashed at the UC Davis student store and one was cashed at an unidentified Food Source, said Dena Erwin, Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman.

The victim lost about $1,700 in total, though Erwin said that was likely to be returned by the bank linked to the account.

Anyone with information about the men is asked to call Detective Lakshan DeSilva at 530-889-7854, or Placer County Crime Stoppers at 800-923-8191 if they wish to remain anonymous.
