Emergency 911 phone service restored in northern Sacramento, Rio Linda
Emergency 911 telephone service has been restored to land-line users in the northern Sacramento and Rio Linda areas, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department.
Emergency service agencies reported late Wednesday afternoon that due to a problem with the emergency 911 network, residents with 991 or 992 telephone prefixes were unable to make 911 calls on land lines.
Residents in those areas requiring emergency law enforcement, fire or medical services were advised to call the Sacramento Police Department’s 10-digit emergency number, 916-732-0100, or the Sheriff’s Department at 916-874-5111. Calls to 911 could be made from cell phones in the affected areas.
The Sheriff’s Department reported that AT&T was working on the problem, and the 911 service was restored shortly after 6 p.m.
