Police investigate death of man found under Highway 50 in West Sacramento
West Sacramento police are investigating the death of a man found under Highway 50 in the area of Jefferson Boulevard on Friday afternoon.
Sgt. Roger Kinney, police spokesman, said officers and and emergency medical personnel responded about 2:20 p.m. to a report of a man down. The man was alive when they arrived and life-saving measures were undertaken, but he died at the scene.
Kinney said some initial reports indicated the man had been stabbed, but that appears not to be the case. It is not clear, he said, whether the man fell from Highway 50 or was on surface streets below.
The man is described as Hispanic and in his 40s. He was wearing a black T-shirt, blue jeans and a green camouflage backpack.
Police would like to talk to motorists or other people who might have seen the man on westbound Highway 50 near Jefferson Boulevard between 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Friday. Anyone with information that might assist in the investigation is asked to call the West Sacramento Police Department’s non-emergency dispatch line, 916-372-3375.
Currently, Kinney said, officers are handling the case as a death investigation.
