Elk Grove police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred Tuesday evening at a Best Buy store.

The robbery was reported at 7:05 p.m. and took place in a rear stock room at the store in the 9100 block of West Stockton Boulevard.

Two black men confronted two employees, tied them up and left with electronics merchandise, according to police. Each of the men were described as 6-foot to 6-foot-3-inches tall between 20 and 30 years old and weighing 250 to 300 pounds. One was wearing a dark jacket and a dark hat with a logo, while the other was wearing a light-colored hoodie and was possibly wearing a black dreadlock wig of black dreadlocks.

Officer Christopher Trim, police spokesman, said the robbery was discovered when two managers went into the stock room to check on employees and encountered one of the robbers, who brandished a gun. Fearing for their safety, the managers did not confront the gunman, who then fled, Trim said. The managers found the two bound employees.

The stock room is not visible from the sales area, Trim said, and customers did not come in contact with the robbers.

He said it is not known whether the men left the area in a vehicle or on foot.

Police released surveillance photos of the two men.
