New pups on the block: Sheriff’s K9 team adds two dogs
Two more good boys are on the hunt for bad guys.
A pair of 1-year-old German shepherds named Bady and Cash are the latest additions to the Sacramento Sheriff K9 Association, the unit announced via Facebook. Each has spent the past few weeks bonding with their handlers after being flown over from the Czech Republic, where they completed their formal training.
Bady can understand English, German and Dutch, according to Deputy A.J. Jenkins. He’s partnered with Deputy Erin Godfrey, a new handler, and loves children.
“He’s got some puppy in him. He’s very happy, very cheerful,” Jenkins said.
Cash will patrol northern Sacramento County with Deputy James Galovich. He replaces Ronin, a German shepherd who served nine years in the sheriff department’s K9 unit before retiring in September.
