The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office has identified a man whose body was found inside a scooter shop early Wednesday near 13th and X streets as Daniel James Aiello, 53.

Aiello, according to social media entries, operated Midtown Moped. The Coroner’s Office listed his home address on the same block as the shop, which rents and repairs scooters and mopeds.

Aiello’s Facebook page mentions Midtown Moped and features many photos of shiny scooters. It also shows photos of him playing with a dog and riding a horse.

His Twitter and LinkedIn pages identify him as a freelance reporter with a specialty in political journalism who has produced articles for California Progress Report, the Bay Area Reporter and Outword magazine.

Police have arrested a man and a woman in connection with Aiello’s death.

Kyle Fletcher, 35, was arrested on suspicion of murder, robbery and burglary, police said. Sabrina Ahrens-Gravelle, 39, was arrested on suspicion of burglary.

“This was not a random act,” said Sgt. Doug Morse, police spokesman.

The suspects had been stopped by police after they were spotted loading items into a vehicle parked in front of the scooter shop about 3:20 a.m. Wednesday. Officers responded to a call about crashing sounds coming from the building.

Inside the shop, officers found the body of a man, identified Friday as Aiello, who was pronounced dead by Sacramento Fire Department crews. Police did not disclose the manner of death.
