Man sentenced in 2014 shooting death of fellow employee
A man found guilty in the shooting death of a fellow employee has been sentenced to 50 years to life in prison.
Pavel Postelnyak, 24, was sentenced Friday by Sacramento Superior Court Judge Geoffrey Goodman, according to a Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office news release. A jury in March convicted Postelnyak of first-degree murder and personally discharging a firearm resulting in the death of 28-year-old Anthony Johnson.
The fatal shooting occurred May 18, 2014, in the area of Auburn Boulevard near Garfield Avenue. Both men had reported for work at Democracy Resources. Although they worked at the same company, they did not know each other and the shooting was unprovoked, authorities said. Johnson died later that day in the hospital.
