One teen was fatally shot and another is in jail in the city of Dixon’s first homicide since 2008.
A 16-year-old boy was arrested about 3 p.m. Saturday in Vacaville after he was identified overnight as the suspect in fatal shooting of a 17-year-old boy Friday night in Dixon. The Vacaville Police Department made the arrest without incident.
The incident occurred about 8 p.m. in Northwest Park. The victim was treated and taken to Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center, but died from the injures, authorities said. His name was not released.
“This was not a random act,” said Jon Cox, Dixon police chief. “We know that there were two groups of teens that were in the park.”

He said there is not yet enough evidence to say whether the shooting was gang-related, but that is being investigated.
“Dixon is a very small town. This is something we are very unaccustomed to. We are all in shock,” Cox said. “It’s been a very difficult night and day.”
