The Sacramento Police Department reports that two girls reported missing Tuesday have been found unharmed in Long Beach with their mother.

Police said the mother, 43-year-old Sanjuana Munoz Vazquez, was taken into custody.

The California Highway Patrol, on behalf of the Sacramento Police Department, has issued an advisory for girls who did not return from school Tuesday.

Yaretzi Munoz-Velasco, 9, and Yurisel Munoz-Velasco, 6, were reported missing and endangered by the Police Department after officers responded to the 2800 block of Rio Linda Boulevard about 5:55 p.m. Tuesday. Police said the incident was determined to be a child custody dispute between family members with possible violation of a court order.

The girls did not return home from school and were believed to be with their mother, who is not the custodial parent, according the the CHP advisory.

Police spokesman Sgt. Doug Morse said the incident did not rise to the level of an Amber Alert, but the CHP issued what is called an “endangered missing advisory.”
