A motorist who died in a collision with an Amtrak train on Tuesday has been identified by the Solano County Coroner's Office as 21-year-old Nathan Gates of Dixon.
The collision occurred about 3 p.m. at the Batavia Road crossing, west of Dixon, according to Officer David Harvey, a spokesman for the California Highway Patrol’s Solano office.
Gates was the sole occupant of the vehicle, a sedan, according to the CHP.
Kimberly Woods, an Amtrak spokeswoman, said in an email that 55 passengers were aboard the eastbound Amtrak Capitol Corridor train when it collided with the vehicle. No injuries were reported among the passengers or crew members, she said.
