Coroner identifies north Sacramento apartment house shooting victim

The Sacramento County Coroner’s office has identified a man shot and killed Sunday afternoon at a north Sacramento apartment complex.

He is listed on the coroner’s website as Peter Standley, 39, of Sacramento.

Officers were called to the apartment complex in the 700 block of Lampasas Avenue in the Noralto neighborhood about 3 p.m. Sunday where a man had been reported shot. When officers arrived, they found Standley suffering from gunshot wounds.

Officers attempted lifesaving efforts until Sacramento Fire Department medical personnel arrived. Standley was eventually declared dead at the scene.

Detectives were called to the apartment complex to begin a homicide investigation. Preliminary findings reveal that two assailants walked toward an apartment just before shots were fired.

The attackers shot Standley and then fled. Robbery may have played a role in the shooting, according to a police press release.
