Man dies in train vs. vehicle crash in Solano County
A man suffered fatal injuries Monday night when the vehicle he was in was hit by an Amtrak train in Solano County near Vacaville.
The crash of the passenger train and vehicle occupied by two people occurred about 9:40 p.m. Monday near the small community of Elmira, just east of Vacaville. Union Pacific Railroad officials said that the crash occurred at the Fox Road crossing.
One man died and another person in the car was airlifted by medical helicopter to the UC Davis Medical Center. The injured person’s condition was not available.
Train traffic resumed on one of the main lines at 11:40 p.m. All train operations resumed on both main line tracks at around 1:40 a.m. Tuesday.
