The Stockton Police Department arrested one of its officers Saturday on three charges of inappropriate conduct with a minor, according to the department.

Officer Matthew Huff was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on Saturday on suspicion of contacting a minor to commit a felony, harmful matter sent to seduce a minor and annoying or molesting a child under 18, according to a department news release.

Huff, who has been with the department since 2012, has been placed on administrative leave pending further investigation, the department said.

“These actions are a major departure from the values and professionalism of the Stockton Police Department,” said Joe Silva, Stockton Police spokesman, in a written statement. “Accountability is critical to maintaining public trust.”
