A suspicious death reported Sunday in Tahoma has been ruled a homicide, and the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office has identified the suspect as 47-year-old Jeremy David Virgo.

Virgo was arrested on suspicion of murder, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release. The victim’s name has not been released pending notification of family.

The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office received a call at 12:40 p.m. Sunday reporting suspicious gunfire near the intersection of Timber Wolf Drive and Alder Street in Tahoma.

A deputy arrived and heard gunshots, apparently coming from the area of a known felon’s residence, officials said. The felon left the house and led the deputy on a chase that ended at the Homewood Mountain Resort, about 2  1/2 miles northwest of Tahoma on Lake Tahoe’s western shore.

Placer County sheriff’s deputies assisted in the chase and made the arrest, as Homewood is in Placer County.

When El Dorado County deputies arrived at the address where the first deputy heard gunshots, they found a person dead inside the home.

Virgo was subsequently booked into El Dorado County Jail.
