An Isleton resident was arrested Monday after allegedly lighting another man on fire in southern Sacramento County.
Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department deputies drove to an unincorporated area west of Isleton after someone called 911 with a description of the victim’s injuries at 5:57 a.m., according to a news release. By the time deputies got to the Cliff House Fishing Access Area, a private vehicle had taken the victim to an area hospital to receive treatment for major burns.
Deputies began speaking with witnesses after finding the crime scene near the river access parking lot. They determined the victim had been intentionally set on fire and identified 33-year-old Isleton resident Robert Flemmings as the suspect.
Sheriff’s deputies received another call just after 3 p.m., this time for a disturbance in the 300 block of B Street near Isleton Elementary School. They found Flemmings at the scene and arrested him on suspicion of robbery, arson causing great bodily injury and violation of probation. He remained in Sacramento County Main Jail custody as of Tuesday afternoon in lieu of $410,000 bail.
