Suspicious object at Roseville intersection was not explosive device

Roseville police say a suspicious object that prompted partial closure of a busy intersection Friday afternoon was not an explosive device.

Police received a call about 3:30 p.m. reporting what appeared to be a stick of dynamite with a fuse at Old Auburn Road and Sierra College Boulevard. Lt. Troy Bergstrom said officers responded to the intersection and also thought the object looked like a stick of dynamite.

The department’s explosive ordnance disposal team was summoned and used a robot to move the object to the side of the road. There they were able to X-ray it and determined that it was not an explosive device, Bergstrom said.

Part of the intersection was closed for about 90 minutes during the investigation, he said.
