A man extradited from Mexico to face prosecution for alleged sex crimes has been convicted of committing sexual acts against children.
A Sacramento County jury on April 24 found Severo Rosel Franco, 34, guilty of committing sexual acts against a child 10 or younger, committing lewd acts on a child younger than 14 by use of force and fear, aggravated sexual assault of a child, child abuse, rape, and assault with intent to commit rape and burglary. The jury also found that Franco committed the sexual offenses against more than one victim, according to a Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office news release.
Franco committed the crimes against three victims between 2005 and 2010, then fled to Mexico, authorities said. The Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office sought extradition, which was granted by the Mexican government, and Franco was returned to Sacramento in 2013.
He is to be sentenced May 29.
