UC Davis doctoral student arrested on sexual assault charges

A UC Davis doctoral student was arrested this week for sexual assault, authorities said.

Ephrem Rukundo, 35, is suspected of assaulting a woman on the night of April 26 at a party on Fourth Street in Davis, according to Davis police.

“It appears the suspect was known to the group,” at the party, said Lt. Thomas Waltz, a spokesman for the Davis Police Department.

Rukundo was arrested Wednesday at his home on a warrant and booked into Yolo County jail. He posted bail.
