Man arrested in Arden Arcade lounge homicide

A man has been arrested in connection with a Sunday shooting at a lounge establishment in the Arden Arcade area.

Isaac Leo Rivera, 22, of Carmichael was arrested on suspicion of murder for shooting and killing James A. Watkins, 37, at a lounge in the 3400 block of El Camino Avenue, according to a Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department news release.

Deputies responded in the early morning hours Sunday to reports of an altercation inside the business. Before they arrived, the fight spilled into the parking lot where gunshots were fired, sheriff’s officials said.

Watkins was shot and was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. He died on Wednesday.

Detectives do not believe Rivera knew the victim.

Rivera remains at the Sacramento County Main Jail, where he is being held without bail. He is scheduled to appear in court Monday.
