Three arrested after ‘sideshow activity’ in North Sacramento

Three people were arrested and several cars were towed in Natomas on Sunday morning after an auto parts shop's opening attracted hundreds of vehicles, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officer Mike Zerfas, a CHP spokesman, said calls started coming in around 10 a.m. Sunday about "sideshow activity" near North Market Boulevard. A store's grand opening received between 800 and 1,000 visitors, with various automobiles showing up.

For the most part, people were pretty well-behaved, Zerfas said, but there was some exposition-style speed racing and complaints began coming into CHP dispatch. Three people were arrested and five or six vehicles were towed, but Zerfas didn't have specifics on the reasons.

Sacramento police and the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department were also on hand, he said.
