Update: 2 juveniles held in hoax report of gunman at Davis school

Two male juveniles are in custody in connection with a prank call about a gunman on the campus of Ralph Waldo Emerson/Da Vinci Junior High in Davis.

The arrest by Davis police of the juveniles stems from a 911 call made at 1:15 p.m. Friday to the California Highway Patrol reporting a white male in black clothing holding a gun in front of the school, said Lt. Tom Waltz of the Davis Police Department.

That call triggered the lockdown of the junior high school as well as nearby Patwin Elementary.

After a room-to-room search at Emerson/Da Vinci, Davis police concluded the call was a prank.

Waltz did not say what led officers to establish that the call was a prank or how police were led to the two juveniles in custody.
