A multi-car collision on Highway 99 Saturday injured six people, authorities said.
The accident occurred at 12:15 p.m., just north of the Arno Road exit in unincorporated Sacramento County.
The incident started when a 20-year-old woman, driving northbound in the No. 1 lane, looked down to find music on her cellphone, according to Officer Michael Bradley, a California Highway Patrol spokesman.
“She didn’t realize the cars ahead of her had stopped, so she rear-ended the car in front of her, sending it into the ditch on the shoulder,” Bradley said.

The woman’s vehicle then continued into the No. 2 lane, hitting a second vehicle. The second car was pushed into the No. 1 lane, crashing into another vehicle, according to Bradley.
