‘Family disturbance’: Police respond to suspect barricaded in home
Sacramento Police negotiators and a SWAT team have been in a standoff with a man for several hours Thursday night, cordoning off a ramshackle property and adjacent blocks near the Florin Perkins Public Disposal Site.
Jackson Road between Folsom Boulevard and South Watt Avenue remains closed off to the police activity, as is Florin Perkins Road from Kiefer Boulevard to Belvedere Avenue.
Police have been try to talk to the man, whom they’re calling Francisco, with a loudspeaker since about 6 p.m. on a property on the 8500 block of Jackson Road and Florin Perkins Road near Rosemont. The situation began after a 911 call was made about a family disturbance, police said.
“An estranged family member had shown up to a residence – the family member brandished a firearm in a threatening manner, and that necessitated them calling us,” said Sacramento Police spokesman Eddie Macaulay. “We believe he is in one of the particular buildings but our crisis negotiators and SWAT team have gone up there to try to get the individual out.”
Police said they believe the man is the only person inside the house, one of three buildings on the property on the eastern fringe of city limits just north of the public waste facility and across the street from a Green Acres Nursery location.
“We believe he is in one of the particular buildings but our crisis negotiators and SWAT team have gone up there to try to get the individual out,” Macaulay said.
