A 54-year-old Carmichael man has been arrested in the stabbing of another man Wednesday night near Tempo Park in Citrus Heights.
The suspect, Jose Partida, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and mayhem, according to a Citrus Heights police statement. The victim, who was not identified, was rushed to a hospital for surgery for “significant” injuries but was expected to survive, police said.
Officials said police were dispatched to Tempo Park at 10:23 p.m. Wednesday after receiving reports of a male voice in the park calling for help. Officers were directed to a home where a man with stab wounds had knocked on the door for help, the police statement said.
The victim gave a description of the suspect, who was believed to be in Tempo Park, police said. Officers set up a perimeter with help from Roseville police and found the suspect nearby.
Detectives said the suspect and victim apparently knew each other and that the attack did not appear to be random. Police were investigating the case but were not seeking additional suspects, the statement said.
Officer Anthony Boehle said the case did not appear to be related to another stabbing reported early Thursday in Sacramento County.
