Incident stops traffic near Tower Bridge, Sacramento police say

Capitol Mall was briefly closed Tuesday night to traffic, according to Sacramento police.

Police earlier tweeted just before 7:30 p.m. that the Tower Bridge which connects Sacramento and West Sacramento “is currently closed as we are dealing with a subject threatening to commit suicide.”

Sacramento police Sgt. Vance Chandler, a spokesman for the department, said it wasn’t the Tower Bridge that was closed, but the span just east of the bridge on Capitol Mall that crosses over Interstate 5. He added that the roadway was reopened to traffic.
