Update: Woman in critical condition after being struck by RT bus in north Sacramento
A woman is hospitalized in critical condition after being struck by a Regional Transit bus Saturday morning in north Sacramento.
Just before 9 a.m., the Sacramento Police Department said it responded to a call about a collision between a vehicle and pedestrian at Norwood Avenue and Silver Eagle Road.
The incident prompted road closures in the Johnson Heights, Oak Knoll and Strawberry Manor neighborhood from about 9 a.m. until just after 2 p.m., police said.
A preliminary investigation indicates the woman was not in a crosswalk when she was struck by the bus, said Officer Eddie Macaulay, a spokesman for the Sacramento Police Department.
Devra Selenis, Sacramento Regional Transit District spokeswoman, confirmed that the vehicle involved in the incident was a city bus on the district’s Route 19.
Officers evaluated the bus driver at the scene and determined they did not show any signs of impairment by drugs or alcohol, Macaulay said. No one on the bus was hurt in the collision, he said.
No other information is available at this time, police said.
