Firefighters in Woodland responded to six fires set in two hours by an arsonist Monday morning, said the Woodland Fire Department.
All the fires were within a two-block radius of the intersection of Main Street and West Street in Woodland and were “intentionally set by an arsonist,” the fire department said in a press release.
All six fires were vegetation fires and were set between 6:30 and 8:30 a.m., according to the release.
One fire, at 115 Main Street, threatened the building there but was extinguished with only damage to the exterior paint and the sign on the front of the business, the release said. The fire triggered a one-alarm response because it threatened the building, and units responded from the Willow Oak, UC Davis and Davis fire departments to assist Woodland.
