Man arrested in connection with Interstate 5 off-ramp fire
A man was arrested Monday afternoon after a two-alarm grass fire broke near Interstate 5 that forced the closure of an off-ramp at Richards Boulevard, authorities said.
David Cove, 46, was arrested at 4:42 p.m. on suspicion of possession of drugs, an outstanding warrant and arson, according to the Sacramento Police Department. Officers made contact with Cove as he was walking northbound on I-5 near Richards Boulevard, police said.
The California Highway Patrol shut down the on-ramp at 4:55 p.m. as fire crews responded to the blaze burning in grass lands near the freeway. The fire was extinguished and the off-ramp reopened early Monday evening.
