Folsom man arrested on suspicion of selling cocaine, prescription meds to high schoolers
A Folsom man has been arrested on suspicion of distributing controlled substances, including cocaine and “commonly abused” prescription medications, to high school students and others, according to a news release by the Folsom Police Department.
Poyan Golparast, 20, was arrested Thursday after a search warrant served at the 1200 block of Creekside Drive turned up cocaine, marijuana, oxycodone, MDMA and Xanax, according to a Nixle post by the Folsom Police Department.
In a joint investigation with the city’s school resource officers, Folsom police arrested Golparast on suspicion of narcotic-related sales, as detectives also located cash, fake weapons, scales and packaging, according to the post. Golparast was selling the drugs throughout Folsom, including to minors, police said.
“We are seeing an uptick in controlled substance related cases including cocaine, methamphetamine, and molly being stored in clear, unmarked capsules in an attempt to disguise them as vitamins or other substances,” Detective Scott Somersett said in a statement.
The Nixle post says that, according to school resource officers, about two students a week on average are found to be abusing prescription medications at Folsom’s three high schools (Folsom High, Folsom Lake High and Vista del Lago).
