Man arrested on arson charges after setting fire to apartment closet in North Highlands
A suspect was arrested on arson charges Monday after Sacramento Metro Fire personnel responded to an apartment fire in North Highlands, according to Metro Fire.
Victor Jerome Lee, 43, of Sacramento County, was arrested near the scene of the fire after being identified by witnesses as the person who started the fire, Metro Fire said in a press release.
The fire was reported at about 5 a.m. Monday and was confined to a bedroom closet in an apartment on the 5600 block of Hillsdale Boulevard in North Highlands, Metro Fire said.
Sacramento County Sheriff deputies located Lee near the scene, and witnesses identified him. When Metro Fire investigators arrived at the scene, they determined the fire was incendiary in nature and arrested Lee.
Lee was booked into Sacramento County Main Jail and charged with arson of an inhabited structure or property, according to jail records. His bail is set at $190,000.
