Suspicious death at North Highlands home prompts homicide investigation, authorities say
A male found dead in a North Highlands residence is believed to be a homicide victim, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department said Thursday.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call about 3:15 p.m. Wednesday at the 6600 block of Melrose Drive, where they found an unresponsive male inside a home, according to a news release by the Sheriff’s Department. The male was pronounced dead by fire personnel, according to the release.
Observations by deputies and hours of witness interviews led detectives to determine that the male was the victim of a homicide, according to the release.
The Sheriff’s Department has not made any arrests or publicly released information regarding possible suspects.
The victim’s identity will be made available by the Coroner’s Office following notification of family.
