Two people killed when Cadillac pulls into oncoming traffic on Highway 99

A three-car collision that killed two and injured three in Nicolaus on Friday afternoon caused multiple Highway 99 lane closures.

A woman in a Cadillac drove into the path of a man in a Ford F-350 while getting on northbound Highway 99 at roughly 12:20 p.m. Friday, according to the California Highway Patrol. The resulting collision killed both the 72-year-old Oroville woman and her passenger, a 78-year-old Oroville man.

The Ford F-350 rolled over into the southbound lane and collided with a Toyota Tacoma that was traveling south on Highway 99.

Both passengers in the Toyota Tacoma — a 30-year-old man and 21-year-old man, both from Citrus Heights — were transported to UC Davis Medical Center after sustaining major injuries, according to a news release from CHP. The driver of the F-350 had minor injuries.

All southbound lanes on Highway 99 were closed for roughly two hours as a result of the collision. Lanes were reopened to traffic at around 2:50 p.m., according to CHP.
