A woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition after being shot in the back Sunday in what her boyfriend said was an accident, according to the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office.
Placerville resident Michael Spiller, 38, told sheriff’s deputies that he had “accidentally discharged his firearm and shot his girlfriend in the back,” a release form the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office said.
The woman was found on the kitchen floor with a gunshot close to her shoulder. She was rushed to an area hospital in critical condition, according to the release.
Spiller was detained by detectives and was later arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and booked into the El Dorado County Jail.
