Highway 99 accident involving a car and two trucks closes lanes in Elk Grove
An accident involving a car and two big rigs killed one person and closed all lanes of Highway 99 near Laguna Avenue in Elk Grove on Wednesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A man driving a Buick Sport was involved in a solo accident at around 3 a.m., which caused the Buick to become disabled in the third northbound lane of Highway 99, according to a news release from the CHP.
A Kenworth big rig struck the Buick, throwing the driving onto the roadway, according to the CHP. A second big rig, a Freightliner, then struck the Buick driver.
The Buick driver died as a result, the release said.
The 3 a.m. accident closed all lanes of Highway 99, according to tweets from Caltrans.
All lanes were reopened to traffic at around 4:50 a.m.
