A Sacramento parolee was arrested after leading Roseville police on a short high-speed chase and subsequently causing property damage Sunday night, officials said.

Charles Haddad, 25, drove past Roseville Police Department officers going roughly 45 mph through a small space behind a building, according to a department news release.

Because it was rainy and dark and Haddad was driving so fast, officers said they began following the vehicle, which fled the parking lot and ran a series of stop signs. Haddad refused to pull over and continued to speed, swerve between cars and run red lights, the release said.

Because of the road conditions and Haddad’s high peed, officers called off the chase.

Officers were able to trace possible routes Haddad could have taken and searched the neighborhood they believed him to be in when they noticed property damage from a crash.

Another patrol car spotted the vehicle Haddad was driving with front-end damage, the release said, and officers found Haddad inside.

He surrendered, although he later became combative with officers, the release said. Haddad was booked into a Placer County jail on felony charges of evading a peace officer with disregard for safety, hit-and-run property damage, obstructing or resisting an officer and violation of parole, according to jail records. He is ineligible for bail.
