Citrus Heights police report that one person was critically injured Wednesday morning in a collision on Auburn Boulevard near the entrance to Rusch Park.
Officers responded to the scene, north of Antelope Road, about 10:45 a.m. A red convertible was southbound on Auburn Boulevard and collided with a northbound silver sedan as it was making a left turn into Rusch Park, according to a Police Department news release.
The convertible left the roadway, striking a concrete pillar, then entered the park, where it landed upside down. Police said several witnesses to the collision stopped and went to the aid of the convertible driver. The witnesses righted the vehicle, flipping it over onto its wheels.
Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Department personnel arrived and the driver of the convertible was taken to an area hospital, where he is listed in critical condition, police said. The driver of the sedan reported no injury and declined treatment at the scene.
