A pedestrian was struck and killed by an Amtrak train in Davis on Wednesday afternoon, according to officials.
According to a statement from Amtrak, the pedestrian was “trespassing on the tracks” near the Davis train station Wednesday. A Capitol Corridor train headed to Sacramento from Oakland struck the pedestrian at 1:53 p.m.
According to Amtrak, there were no injuries to the 26 passengers on board or to the train’s crew.
The accident marked the second fatality in as many days in the Sacramento area. On Tuesday, a freight train was involved in a fatal collision near the intersection of Fruitridge Road and Power Inn Road.
The involved train was delayed for at least two and a half hours, the statement said, and the next scheduled Capitol Corridor train was delayed at least an hour.
Amtrak police are working with local law enforcement to investigate the collision.
