Placer County road closed as deputies conduct manhunt, suspect still at large
A portion of a road in Meadow Vista was closed Saturday night while Placer County Sheriff’s Office deputies searched for a suspect who fled the scene of a traffic stop.
Crother Road was closed between Blackberry Lane and Placer Hills Road at around 7 p.m., when deputies attempted to stop Bryan Coberley, who fled the scene on foot. Coberley is still at large, department spokesman Lt. Andrew Scott said Sunday morning.
Deputies began to investigate Coberley last week when he was involved in a vehicle collision, Scott said, and they found he had multiple active warrants, including a nonviolent felony warrant.
“We located him and attempted to stop him, but he fled on foot,” Scott said.
The Saturday night search was called off due to darkness, Scott said, and Crother Road was reopened at around 8 p.m. Scott said deputies will continue to search for Coberley.
Scott said Coberley is not a danger to the public, but anyone who sees him should call 911.
