Three men convicted in 2017 spree of 14 robberies in Sacramento County

Three men have been convicted for a spree of 14 separate robberies at businesses in late 2017, the Sacramento County District Attorney’s office announced Tuesday.

Two defendants, Malcom Brewer and Glen Conway, were found guilty by jury in Sacramento Superior Court last week. Brewer was convicted on 14 counts of robbery, with enhancements for being armed during 11 of the robberies; Conway was convicted by a separate jury on three counts with two firearm enhancements.

The third defendant, Shane Williams, pleaded no contest to seven counts of robbery, court records show.

The spree took place at gas stations, convenience stores, fast food restaurants and gaming stores throughout Sacramento County from Nov. 10 to Dec. 13, 2017, the DA’s office said in a news release. At least 19 people were victimized in the robberies, authorities say.

Brewer, Conway and Williams were connected to the robberies, which authorities say involved five perpetrators total, via physical and DNA evidence as well as phone records, according to the release.

In most of the robberies, the men were masked, wore gloves and made use of a getaway driver to flee the businesses, the news release said.

Brewer and Conway had prior-strike convictions for residential burglary that will be considered at sentencing. Brewer faces a max sentence of 79 years in prison, while Conway faces 33 and Williams faces a max of 13 years, 4 months.

Williams is scheduled for sentencing April 12. Brewer and Conway will be sentenced April 26.
