Several injured, at least 4 suspects in custody after Roseville shooting incident, police say

Several people were hospitalized, one of them with a gunshot injury, and at least four people were taken into custody following an incident Tuesday night near two Roseville hotels, police said.

Police responded to reports of gunshots in the 1900 block of Taylor Road, near the Courtyard and the Fairfield Inn, just before 7 p.m., Roseville Police Department spokesman Rob Baquera said Wednesday.

A female victim inside a hotel room was an uninvolved bystander struck by a bullet, Baquera said, but it is not yet clear whether the shot was fired from inside or outside the hotel room. No one else was believed to have been hit by gunfire, Baquera said.

Three other people were hospitalized with injuries not considered life-threatening, according to Baquera. One person was bit by a police K-9 and two others received unspecified, minor injuries.

Baquera said responding officers located two groups found in a confrontation between the adjacent hotels. He did not know how many people were in each group.

Members of one of the groups fled the scene via Interstate 80 and drove to Citrus Heights, where their vehicle crashed in a residential neighborhood, Baquera said. The driver and at least one passenger were taken into custody by Citrus Heights police, he said.

Baquera said “four or five” suspects in total were taken into custody in relation with the incident, which is still being pieced together and actively investigated by detectives. It was not yet clear what charges the suspects may be facing.

“There’s still a lot of unanswered questions,” Baquera said.

After initial reports and a news release Tuesday indicated there were not believed to be any outstanding suspects, Baquera said one suspect is still sought, but no description or further details have been made available.

Officers with the Roseville and Citrus Heights police departments located several suspects and took them into custody, according to the news release.

The two Marriott hotels are across the street from Golfland Sunsplash in Roseville.
