Seven-vehicle crash closes Highway 99 near Pleasant Grove, CHP says
A seven-vehicle crash involving a big rig closed both directions of Highway 99 near Pleasant Grove in Sutter County, Caltrans and California Highway Patrol said Friday morning.
Caltrans reported the crash near Sankey Road, about 20 miles north of Sacramento, just after 6:40 a.m., and said emergency responders including two helicopters have been dispatched to the scene.
The collision involved a big rig that caught fire, according to CHP incident log entries, which originally reported it as a six-vehicle incident.
The incident involved minor injuries to at least one involved party on the southbound side and major injuries to at least one on the northbound side, according to CHP. At least one person was transported to UC Davis Medical Center for burn injuries and another was taken to Sutter Roseville, CHP log entries show.
CHP said southbound traffic was reopened just after 7 a.m. and northbound traffic was reopened as of 7:50 a.m. Significant delays are still expected in both directions, CHP says.
